Dewey George McIlrath
Dewey George McIlrath, 71, of 411 W. Main St. Rossville, IN died at St. Joseph Hospital in Kokomo, Indiana on Friday, February 12, 2010. He was born on June 6,1938 in Burlington Indiana to parents George & Lorena (Calton) McIlrath.
Dewey married Linda Kay ¡°Sam¡± Spinn on November 1,1959, and she survives.
He graduated from Burlington High School in 1956, and he was the Owner & Operator of Dewey¡¯s IGA Sedalia and Rossville from 1962 to present. He was a volunteer firefighter in Rossville for 10 years. He was also one of the founding members of the Angle Hill Golf Course in Rossville in 1969. He was a member of the Elks, Moose, Beard Masonic Lodge Scottish Rite and Wildcat Golf Club where he was also a board member. Dewey was a man who led by his positive outlook in life at work, with friends and family. The light of his life was his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; 2 sons Kent (wife Cheryl) of Rossville and Kevin (wife Donna) of Monticello; 1 daughter Kelly(husband Mark) Hiatt of Rossville; 2 sisters Melba Catron of Russiaville and Wilma Brubaker of Burlington; 2 brothers Earl ¡°Bud¡± of Flora and Doyle of Burlington; and grandchildren Kelsey,Adam,Bethany,Sarah,Elizabeth,Andrew, Matthew and Jenelle.
He was preceded in death by: 2 sisters Pat and Jane as well as 1 brother Tom.
