Robert M. Gray
Bob graduated from Rossville High School in 1946 and attended Franklin College. He served in the Korean War, serving in the United States Army and was a member of the 10th Field Artillery from 1950-1952. He was farmer as well as worked for the Soil Conservation Service for 27 years, and after retiring from SCS, he worked for the Department of Natural Resources as a dam and levee inspector until retiring after 8 years of service in 1995.
He was a member of Geetingsville Presbyterian Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and the Moose where he was a part of the bowling league. He also served on the Geetingsville Cemetery Board 55 years. Bob was a lifelong Cubs fan and an avid reader & golfer. He cherished the friendships he cultivated throughout the years. He enjoyed cutting wood and thrived on being outdoors. He loved his family and gave unselfishly of himself to all he encountered. Bob will be remembered in the hearts of all those lives he touched.
He married Catherine Schimmel on August 23, 1950, and she survives.
Survivors include his wife of Frankfort, two daughter, Viki (husband Lane) Kirby, West Point, Rhonda (husband Steve) Klecz, Frankfort, one sister, Bonnie Carman, Burlington, two brothers, Leon (wife Thelma) Gray, Rossville & Gilbert Gray, Cutler, four grandchildren, Lindsey Klecz, Olivia Kirby, Adam Klecz & Margot (husband John) Roudebush & three great-grandchildren, Hunter Klecz, Aubrey Ryan & Colton Klecz
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Roger & one sister, Doris Skiles.
