Mary Elizabeth Jessup
Mary Elizabeth Jessup, 84, formerly of Dayton, died at Mulberry Health & Retirement Community on Monday, June 21, 2010. She was born on July 27, 1925 in Rossville, IN to parents Andrew & Orpha (Beeghley) Long.
Mary was a Homemaker and Foster Parent. She lived in Indianapolis for 30 years, moved to Sedalia, IN in 1995, then to Dayton. She was a Member of the Middlefork Old German Baptist Brethren Church where she was baptized Oct. 17, 1957. She attended Rossville Schools.
Mary was a devoted mother who loved children and a foster mother for over 20 years. Each foster child was always considered part of the family. She had a love for flowers, birds, cats and fish. She had a wonderful sence of humor and laughter was always a part of her conversations. She enjoyed receiving a gift from her secret pal, which would always make her smile. Our mom was a very lovely lady who loved her family and friends. Her life was extended by the loving care of Robert and Michaella for the last five years. The angels came and took her to a better place to be loved for eternity. She married Loran “Junior” Jessup on June 6, 1948, and he predeceased her having passed away on June 25, 2003.
Survivors include 1 son - Robert (wife Michaella) of Lafayette, 1 Daughter - Judy (husband Richard) Bowers of Rockford, IL, 1 Sister - Virginia Bellah of Rossville, 3 Grandchildren & 10 Step Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren and 13 Step Great Grandchildren and 7 Step Great Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 1 son, John “Andy”, 1 sister Ruth Flora, 3 brothers, Chester, John & Daniel.
