John L. Root
ROSSVILLE -- John L. Root, 81, of Rossville, died at 8:50 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2008, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lafayette.
Born Sept. 10, 1926, in Rossville, he was the son of the late Harvey and Elizabeth Miller Root. He attended Rossville schools.
His marriage was to Anna Belle Wagoner on May 9, 1948, and she survives.
Mr. Root farmed until retiring in 2005.
He was a member of Middlefork Old German Baptist Brethren Church.
Also surviving are two sons, Richard Root (wife: Joyce) and Gene Root (wife: Julia), and two sisters, Mary Skiles and Ruby Root, all of Rossville.
Calling 3-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Bodine Funeral Home, Rossville. Funeral home service at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2008 and funeral services at 10 a.m. at Middlefork Old German Baptist Brethren Church, home brethren officiating. Burial at Middlefork Old German Baptist Cemetery. Surviving are 8 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren. A sister, Emily Yoder-Wise and 2 great-grandchildren, Landon and Caleb Root, preceded in death.
