Frances Jane “Janie” Garriott
July 11, 1929 - April 19, 2008
She was life resident of Mulberry and attended Little Jeff and Mulberry High Schools. She worked at Purdue for 22 years as a clerk in resident halls and was an avid Purdue Fan for both Boys and Girls Basketball and the Football Team.
Janie was a member of the Mulberry United Methodist Church, where she had work in the kitchen helping with Mulberry Community Club and funeral dinners. She also worked in the kitchen during the Tornado to feed those whose homes were destroyed and those who were helping with clean-up. She was active in Kid’s Club and the opening of Abba’s Place. Janie was also a past member of Mulberry Mother’s Club and Junior Women’s Club.
She married Myron Burgin Garriott on June 28, 1947, and he predeceased her having passed away on June 2nd, 2004;
Survivors include 7 Children – Larry Garriott of Lafayette; Linda (Doug) Weeks of Plainfield; Randy (Donna) Garriott of West Lebanon; Ronda Hall of Frankfort; Rick (Debby) Garriott of Mulberry; Lorie (Tom) Cook of Lafayette & Lisa (David) Scott of Frankfort. Also 3 Sisters & 1 Brother – Louise Sharp of Frankfort; Vera (Jack) Rohler of Lafayette; Ruth Brettnacher of Florida & Paul “Butch” Morrison of Frankfort as well as 21 Grand Children and 18 Great Grand Children.
Calling will be from 4-8pm Tuesday April 22nd at the Bodine Funeral Home in Mulberry. Funeral Services are scheduled for Wednesday April 23rd at 10:00am and will be held at the Mulberry United Methodist Church with Pastors Dave Hummel, Tom Horhner & Craig Overman officiating. Burial will be at the Fair Haven Cemetery.
Frances Jane “Janie” Garriott, 78, of Mulberry, died at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana on Saturday April 19, 2008. Janie was born July 11, 1929 in Tippecanoe County, Indiana and her parents were Virgil & Florence (Licklyter) Morrison.
