Harriette Faye (Rohler) Cripe
Born April 24, 1928, in Dayton, Indiana, she was the daughter of Harry & Harriette Josephine (Spring) Rohler. She graduated from Dayton High School in 1946 and was employed by Milner Nursing Home from 1968-1977 then Purdue University, OCGBA and Chemistry from 1977-1991.
Faye was very loving, caring honorable lady. She always looked for the good in all people and situations. She had a strong faith in God and trusted Him fully. She was devoted to her family and her many friends. She came from a family that enjoyed music and she and her siblings often sang for others. She later sang alto in church choirs. During her employment at Purdue, Faye was “mom” to many graduate students, for whom she made special birthday cakes. She wanted to make a difference in the lives of others, without drawing attention to herself. She enjoyed cooking, playing Euchre and listening to Christian music. Each year she looked forward to springtime, as she was an avid mushroom hunter.
She married Arden Lee Cripe on March 13, 1949. She was also a member of the Rossville Bible Fellowship, Present Day Club, Euchre Club & Birthday Club.
Surviving are her husband of Rossville; 1 daughter – Susan “Susie” Elaine Cripe Skiles (husband Gordon) of Lafayette; 1 Son – Mark Alan Cripe (wife Ann) of Rossville; 2 Sisters - Ellen Bolyard of Lafayette & Joy Schwartz (husband Don) of Lafayette; 1 Brother - Robert Rohler (wife Dee) of Terre Haute, IN; 2 Granddaughters – Molly Jo Cripe (fiance’ Nathan Birt) and Hannah Elizabeth Cripe; 3 Sister in laws – Ruth Felix of Mulberry, Ann Cripe of Lafayette, Marilyn Cripe of Frankfort; 1 Brother-in-law - Don Cripe (wife Bonnie) of Lowell, IN and many Nieces and Nephews.
She was preceded in death by: Infant son Robert Lee Cripe, Daughter Cathy Jo Cripe, 2 sisters Betty Joan Rohler & Pauline Martin, 2 Brothers Harold & Merle Rohler & 1 Infant Grandson Caleb Andrew Cripe.
Calling hours are from 3-8pm Wednesday, April 23rd at the Bodine Funeral Home in Rossville. Funeral Services are Thursday, April 24th at 10:00am at the Rossville Church of the Brethren with Pastors Judd Dickey & Earl Owen officiating. Burial will be at the Rossville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
