John E. Freeland
John E. Freeland, 90, formerly of 212 W.Ramey St., Rossville, IN died at Mulberry Health & Retirement Community on Wednesday, December 10, 2008. He was born on August 18, 1918 in Sturgis, MI to parents Arden J. & Evangeline (Eastman) Freeland.

He married Jean Hibbard on August 9, 1941 in New York City, NY, and she predecease him having passed away on January 13, 2001.

John graduated from Sturgis High School in 1937 and attended Western Michigan University for three years. He was a Veteran of WWII having served with the Coast Guard. He played for the Frankfort Owls Baseball team during the late 40’s, and he farmed before working at Federal Mogul and retiring in 1985. John was an avid sports fan, loved to golf and could often be seen at Angel Hill Golf course. He attended the Gospel Chapel in Logansport and the Oakland Christian Church in Russiaville.

Survivors include Five daughters: Pamela Sue Freeland, Frankfort, Lynne Marie (husband Phil) Carman, Wheaton, IL, Ellen Gray (husband David) Mosson, Rossville, IN, Susan Jo (husband Jerry) Alws, Lutz, FL, Virginia Beth (husband Keith) Hackett, Hendersonville, TN; Five Grandchildren: Aaron (wife Tracy) Carman, Andrew (wife Nicole) Carman, Megan (husband Brandon) Paschal, Sarah Mosson & Ryan Hackett; One sister, Mary (husband David) Dillon, Memphis, TN and seven Great Grandchildren.
